You surely will not want your gourmet coffee to go over brew and leave a sour after taste by the time you consume it. Nor would you like the new coffee you bought to go to waste as it is more bitter than your usual ground. Here is a list of tips on how to brew a great cup of Premium coffee.
First, if you usually buy your gourmet coffee at the neighborhood grocery store, you will have to change the habit. It is advisable to buy it at coffee shops and roasters whenever possible as the specialty coffee at grocery stores will have been on the shelves for a longer time, with the flavor and freshness deteriorated over time. Goods move much faster at coffee stops and roasters, after all, gourmet coffee is their specialty.
The grinding of beans and brewing process need to be taken seriously as well. Make sure that your do not grind your beans too fine as you might chock up the filter and it might give rise to difficulty when cleaning the machine. Many are led to believe that using hot water in the coffee maker would give the brew a better flavor. This is not true.
You need to know that when water is boiled, it literally loses all the minerals and nutrients. And when you use hot water from the tap, the oxidized metals could even pose harm to your body over time.
If you have the experience of buying a new ground and find that your brew is more bitter than the old, add a little amount of salt on the grounds before you brew your coffee the next time.
The effect of the salt helps remove the bitter sensation. In fact, adding sea salt to your gourmet coffee has become more than a fad in Taiwan. In asia, the popular culture of local coffee shops which serve up aromatic coffee use broken egg shells to give the coffee an even smoother taste.
